Tournament Activities

In addition to the competition on the court, the 2008 National Championships offers some fun activities for everyone to participate in. Many of these benefit the blind and visually impaired children receiving services through programs offered by the Utah Foundation for the Blind.

Concessions will be available throughout most tournament hours. All proceeds from concessions go to help fund the Blind Olympics.

Tournament Souvenirs including Utah Goalball key chains with pictures, USA Goalball hats and tournament t-shirts will be on sale in the display area. Proceeds help fund UFB’s athletic programs.

Goalball Experiences in the activity area will allow the public to try their skills at goalball—blindfolded of course. Don’t miss the fun and see if you can come away with a prize. The one dollar fee for each activity will help fund UFB’s youth and adult goalball program.

Chris Dodds Poster Signing will take place in the activity area at the times listed below. Although the brand new “Chris Dodds’ Paralympic Poster” will be available for $10 throughout the tournament, Chris will be available to meet and have your poster personally autographed at these times. Proceeds from poster sales will be used to help Chris cover expenses of preparing for and competing in the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing.

Personalized Braille Bookmarks can be made in the activity area. Help design your bookmark and have some of our younger students help you get your name or something else on your bookmark in Braille. The one dollar charge will go to UFB’s State Goalball Tournament for children and youth.

UFB Goalball Raffle takes place at the end of the tournament on Saturday. Entry tickets will be available in the display area. Winners of prizes will be contacted and do not need to be present to win. The suggested donation of two dollars per entry supports our Utah High School boy’s and girl’s goalball teams.

Silent Auction items will be on display including the one-of-a-kind beautiful quilt shown below. These items will be awarded to the highest bidder. Bidding will end ten minutes after the conclusion of the women’s gold medal match (approximately 4:45).
