UFB Judo
The Utah Foundation for the Blind conducts an on-going Judo instruction program for any blind or visually impaired person who is interested. This is a continuing program and you can begin instruction at any time. Judo will soon be coming
to Utah County. Watch for
details!!! UFB wants to thank Adam Blackburn for heading up the Judo program in Utah. Adam is a fantastic "Sensei" and loves teaching judo. He is not only a well recognized competitor on the national level (currently ranked #2 in the USA) but a dedicated teacher and trained to work with blind judo participants. Pictured here is Adam and one of our athletes Colton. Colton and his family have been involved in judo since last August and Colton has already won silver and bronze medals at competitions including one in Colorado Springs for sighted and visually impaired athletes. Colton will be featured in an upcoming Newsletter. Judo is appropriate for any visually impaired or blind person at least eight years of age. (Younger children may participate with prior approval.) Judo is an excellent sport for any individual, including the blind.
We
have several instructors who have received training and are now certified to
teach Judo to the blind. These instructors helped us at our UFB Sports Camp and
they are eager to include us in their programs. Please
About 24 students participated in Judo for the very first time and nearly all of them thought it was one of the best parts of UFB's Sports Camp. Judo is fun and there are a lot of opportunities for kids to excel. Please contact any of these coaches:
