Volunteer with UFB
We currently have a HUGE need for volunteers to help at the Western Regional Goalball Tournament hosted by UFB on April 30th and May 1st. More than 80 people are needed to assist with the tournament. Please complete the volunteer form if you have a few hours to help with any of the areas described below.
Goal Judging
Description:
This is a great area
to volunteer for people who are not very familiar with goalball and
also for groups of volunteers.
Lots of volunteers are needed in this area.
Four goal judges are required at any given time.
The goal judge stands at one of the four corners of the court
and signals when a goal is scored.
He or she also retrieves the ball when it goes out-of-bounds
and puts the ball back on the court for the players. Requires standing
during matches.
Training:
There will be a
training session available for goal judges prior to the tournament.
When Needed:
- Friday, April
30th from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Saturday, May 1st
from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Official’s Table
Description:
Volunteers at the
table help out with various things such as score sheets, timing,
tracking the number of throws by players, or running the scoreboard.
Training:
There will be a
training session available for volunteers at the official’s table
prior to the tournament.
When Needed:
- Friday, April
30th from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Saturday, May 1st
from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Transportation
Description:
Shuttling teams
between the tournament and hotel.
Also driving teams to and from the airport.
Volunteers especially needed in the morning and evening of the
tournament days and Thursday afternoon and evening.
When Needed:
- Friday, April
30th from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., especially morning and
evening
- Saturday, May 1st
from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.., especially morning and evening
- Airport shuttle
on Thursday and Sunday
Set Up/Clean up
Description: Help with tournament set-up and clean up. Set up may require bending and/or lifting.
When Needed:
- Set-up
Wednesday or Thursday afternoon or evening
- Clean up will
be immediately after the tournament on Saturday, May 1st
(about 7:00 p.m.)
Meals
Description:
Help with serving of meals and clean up.
When Needed:
- Friday lunch
and dinner
- Saturday lunch
