Annual State Goalball
Tournament
for Children and Youth
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
REGISTRATION FOR
THE UTAH FOUNDATION FOR THE BLIND'S 2010 UTAH
YOUTH GOALBALL
TOURNAMENT
All players need
to be at Crescent View Middle school
between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on Friday, March 26th.
Failure to be there on time might result in not being able to
participate. (We also
need all players to be able to stay the entire time their teams
are going to be playing so please plan accordingly.)
At that time, they will be placed on a team, given a
T-shirt, and given eyeshades to use in the tournament.
Players should bring their own elbow and knee pads
(volleyball knee pads are the best).
We do have some, but not enough for everyone…they need to
bring their backpack or zippered bag to keep their equipment in.
Please, do not wear hard elbow or knee pads.
Please wear non-marking tennis shoes.
Players must
have the skills needed to participate in this tournament.
(These skills include being able to play for at least 5
minutes without being prompted, etc. If you have concerns about
your child being ready, talk to their goalball coach.)
If your child is not ready to participate in this year's
tournament, don't worry, they will probably be ready next year.
It would be great if you could bring them to watch, have
lunch with us, and participate in the craft activities.
While the
tournament is going on, the students will have games and craft
activities to participate in.
These activities are only for the students who are
participating in goalball this year.
Parents and
other family members are encouraged to come and watch.
We should have the local news coming.
During a goalball game, we need everyone to be very quiet.
You can cheer when the referee calls a goal, but other than
that, you will need to be quiet so that the players can hear the
ball. If you bring young
children, please keep them by you and do not let them run around
because the noise they make interferes with the players' ability
to track the ball. We LOVE
having family and friends come and watch goalball!!!!
We hope you can make it.
Volunteers:
If you want to volunteer to help at this tournament, please
email Jalayne and let her
know what time you can help.
We need goal judges who just stand by the sides and put the
balls back in play. We
need people who can come early and help set up chairs, we need
people who can stay later and help clean up.
Check in Time:
8:30 a.m.
Play Begins at:
9:00 a.m.
Lunch:
11:30-12:30
Lunch will be
provided to all players and volunteers.
Family and friends are welcome to purchase a lunch from us
if enough food is available.
Medal Rounds:
The medal rounds
will take place (depending on how many students sign up) around
2:00 for both divisions.
Ending by 3:30:
The tournament will be over by 3:30.
We can always use volunteers to help take down the chairs
and clean up and would LOVE any and All help!!!!
Thanks for letting your child participate in goalball.
We love to watch them get better!
This is the
first team sport (and sometimes only sport) that many of these
students have played. We
want to keep it a positive atmosphere.
We have different levels of playing ability.
Everyone who has the skills will be allowed to play.
Some teams will win, some will lose, but we want everyone
to have a good time. It
isn't all about getting first or second place, it is about working
hard to improve, being a team player, being a good sport, getting
in better physical shape, and having fun.
