Some Interesting Facts:

It is estimated there are over 3,400 blind and visually impaired school-aged children in Utah.

 

Last year volunteers donated over 5,000 hours to help with UFB programs.

 

UFB goalball teams (sport for blind athletes) have won six national championships and UFB will host the 2012 USA National Championship Tournament in June.

 

In 1925 Helen Keller challenged Lions Club members to be "Knights of the blind."

 

There are great career opportunities for people interested in being trained to work with the blind.

 

The use of the white cane by blind people in North America began in 1931 thanks to the efforts of Lion's Clubs International.

 

The Washington Post reported in 2010 that 50% of cab drivers in Washington D.C. would not pick up a blind person using a guide dog.

A fundraising event to benefit the
Utah Foundation for the Blind
and Visually Impaired

Join us for a "Sweetheart" evening of dinner, entertainment, and live & silent auction. Guests will have the opportunity to eat dinner blindfolded and experience what it is like to be blind.

Blind dinner guests at each of the tables will be glad to provide hints, tricks, and techniques to help those who choose to enjoy dinner blindfolded and give everyone insights about blindness.

Don't miss this opportunity to support the Utah Foundation for the Blind in raising funds to support critical programs for the blind and at the same time show that your love is blind.

• $50 per person ($100 per couple)

• Table sponsorships: $400 (six or eight people)
